Auditing students

The University of Hohenheim's auditing student program is very popular with numerous participants in the city and region every semester. Interested individuals can take part in open lectures at the University of Hohenheim regardless of age, education, profession, and background, thus continuing their education across all subjects in the spirit of lifelong learning.

What does it mean to be an auditing student?

Auditing students are persons who are not enrolled at the University of Hohenheim, i.e. are not members of the University of Hohenheim, but nevertheless regularly attend courses.

It is also possible to apply for a Hohenheim user account as an auditing student (e.g. for Internet access on campus).

What are the requirements and regulations?

  • You do not need a university entrance qualification (e.g., Abitur, A-levels, high school diploma).
  • There is no age limit.
  • The prerequisite for participation is sufficient capacity in the desired course.
  • You cannot take assessments.
  • It is not possible to prepare for a degree program by taking and later gaining recognition for coursework and examinations.

The auditing student fee is 75 euros per semester.

How do I become an auditing student?

The request must be filed before the lecture period commences (see semester dates).

Please note:

  • The request for admission applies for one semester in each case. If you would like to register as an auditing student in the following or a later semester, please submit a new request.
  • If you are admitted as an auditing student, this does not give you a legal entitlement to participate in the selected courses.
