The DoSV is organized in three phases: Application phase, coordination phase, and coordinated succession phase. You can find detailed information on the individual phases on the Hochschulstart website. We have summarized the most important information for you here so that nothing can go wrong with your application to the University of Hohenheim.
Registration & application
- First of all, you need to register once on the Hochschulstart DoSV application portal. It is not permitted to register multiple times. ATTENTION: Make a note of your applicant ID (BID) and your applicant authentication number (BAN). You will need these for the rest of the application process. You can then apply for up to twelve degree programs throughout Germany. Degree programs not participating in the DoSV are not counted. When applying to the University of Hohenheim, you must provide your BID and BAN. You can apply for up to three degree programs at the University of Hohenheim.
It is possible to apply until 15 July.
Prioritization
- Next, you should prioritize your applications and put them in the desired order. At the beginning, your applications are sorted and prioritized in the order in which you submitted them. You must actively change this order to determine your priority. Your highest priority is at the top. Prioritization is important, as admission offers with a lower priority can be dropped at any time during the coordination phase when the coordination rules begin. You could therefore miss out on the chance to study at your preferred university simply because you have not prioritized sufficiently.
Prioritization should be completed by 22 July.

Coordination
- The University of Hohenheim prioritizes admissions according to the university's own selection procedure and sends the results to Hochschulstart in the form of a ranking list. Study places are allocated according to this ranking list until all study places are filled. If your application to the University of Hohenheim falls within the "admissions-eligible range" of the ranking list, you will receive an offer of admission from us. As coordination is a highly dynamic process, you may receive an offer of admission to the University of Hohenheim later during the coordination phase, even if your application did not initially fall within the “admissions-eligible range.”
- At the beginning of the coordination phase, several offers of admission may accumulate. You can check the admission offers and keep an eye on your position on the released ranking lists. If you accept an offer of admission, the offer of admission becomes a "real" admission. Your other applications and admission offers will then be eliminated from the process and the application procedure will end for you. ATTENTION: the acceptance can no longer be cancelled, so you should be sure. You will receive the letter of admission including the deadline for enrollment after accepting an offer of admission in the University of Hohenheim's application portal HohCampus.
If you do not actively accept an offer of admission, the coordination rules will apply from 23 July
Coordination rules of the DoSV
- With the start of the coordination rules, only one offer of admission is possible. If there are several offers of admission, the lower-prioritized offers of admission will automatically be removed immediately and you can no longer choose them. However, open and higher prioritized applications will remain open. You can now actively accept an offer of admission or wait to see if you receive an offer of admission from a higher-priority application. If you have not yet accepted an admission offer at the end of the coordination phase, the highest prioritized admission offer will be accepted automatically.
The coordination phase ends on 25 August.
Coordinated succession
- The University of Hohenheim does not take part in the coordinated succession procedure. If there are still places available, these will first be allocated in the local succession procedure and then by lottery.
