Bachelor of Science

Agricultural Sciences

How do we design agriculture such that it feeds people, protects animals, and protects the climate at the same time? How can agricultural production be implemented in a sustainable, regional, socially just, and economically viable way, even under the conditions of climate change, scarcity of resources, and global competitive pressure?

The Bachelor’s degree program in Agricultural Sciences deals with these and other key questions about the future of agriculture. In this program you will look at agricultural systems in all their complexity: from agronomy and animal husbandry to business management and technology to environmental and energy issues. In practical courses and an integrated internship, you will learn how innovative concepts for sustainable agricultural production are developed and implemented. If you want to play an active role in shaping agriculture and contribute to solving global challenges, the Agricultural Sciences degree program is the right place for you.

Studies

The Bachelor’s degree program in Agricultural Sciences provides you with extensive knowledge at the interface of plant sciences, agricultural engineering, animal sciences, economics, and soil science. You will be able to assess the ecological and economic impact of agricultural measures. You will learn to analyze complex interrelationships, find solutions for specific agricultural challenges, and experience these in practice on farms. You will spend around 40 percent of your degree program in courses you choose based on your own interests and goals, acquiring skills in the theory and practice of agricultural sciences. For example, you can choose from 12 profiles and integrate a research project, semester abroad, or professional internship into your studies. There are more subjects and courses on offer than at any other university in Germany.

NEW: Part-time studies

Starting in the winter semester 2025/26, you can also study the Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Sciences part-time. This is ideal if you want to combine your job, family, or other commitments with your studies. You take fewer modules per semester and thus gain more flexibility in your everyday studies.

You can find detailed information about the conditions on the page for part-time studies. If you have any questions, please contact Patricia Ritter.
