Your application for the Master’s program in Food Chemistry

To apply for the Master’s program in Food Chemistry, simply check the admission requirements and then upload your documents online through the HohCampus application portal by the application deadline. The application portal opens in mid-April for applications for the winter semester and in mid-December for the summer semester.

Apply online via the HohCampus application portal for the Master's degree program in Food Chemistry and upload the application documents in the application portal. There you can also check the status of your application at any time.

Admission requirements

Bachelor’s degree from a German or foreign university with at least 180 ECTS or at least a 3-year standard period of study
- in food chemistry or
- in an equivalent related degree program with a chemical-analytical profile with an above-average final grade, proven by the grade “good” or better (e.g., Chemistry, Nutritional Science, Food Science and Biotechnology, Environmental Chemistry)

Application documents

Transcript of records and the certificate of the completed university studies with average grade
- If you do not yet have your final degree certificate, then we will use your current average grade.
- The degree certificate must be submitted no later than 31 December of the year for which admission is requested.
- If the documents are not available in German or English, we need an officially certified translation.

- German Bachelor´s Degree
- TestDaF (at least level TDN4 in all four test areas)
- DSH (at least level DSH-2)
- DSD (at least level II; German language diploma from the Kultusministerkonferenz)
- Goethe Certificate C2: "Großes Deutsches Sprachdiplom" from the Goethe Institute
- Deutsche Sprachprüfung II (Munich Language and Interpretation Institute (SDI))
If you were already enrolled in a Master’s degree program:
- Proof of completed exams from another Master’s program
- Proof that you have not lost the right to take examinations in the degree program to which you are seeking admission or in a related degree program.

To allocate the available places, a ranking list is created. In the Admission Regulations you can find detailed information on how points are assigned.

Yes, that is possible.

To apply for more than one Master’s program, fill out an online application for each and confirm them with the button “Submit application.”

No. Every application will be equally considered. It is not important how many applications you have submitted or for which programs you have applied.

In the following you will find a list of the different admission status notifications and their meaning:

Online application in preparation	Your application is not finished. Please click on “Submit request” to submit the application.
Online application submitted	Thank you for your application. We have received your application and it is currently being processed.
Application is being processed	Your application is currently being processed.
Application will be considered	Your application fulfills the based requirements and will therefore take part in the procedure for allocating places in the degree program.
Application will currently not be considered	Unfortunately, your application cannot be considered in the university places allocation procedure. You have received a message through this application portal stating the reasons for this.
Application will not be considered	Unfortunately, your application cannot be considered in the university places allocation procedure because it does not fulfill the necessary requirements or you have not submitted the required documents. You can no longer submit any documents.
Admission has been granted	Congratulations, you are being offered a spot in the program! If you would like to accept the admission offer, you need to confirm that with the corresponding button. Then you will need to go through the online enrollment process.
Admitted	If you want to accept the university place, you have to apply online for enrollment.
Admission currently not possible	Your application has been considered in the university place allocation procedure. Unfortunately, you have not been granted an admission. Your application will automatically be considered in the succession procedure; if you are granted admission in this procedure, you will be notified.
Enrollment requested	You have entered the necessary data online and now you need to send documents to the University of Hohenheim.
Enrollment is being processed	Enrollment documents have been received and are currently being processed. We will contact you if there are missing documents.
Enrolled	Enrollment has been completed. You are now a student of the University of Hohenheim. You will receive your student ID and all necessary information within the next few days.

Yes. If you are applying even though you have not yet completed your first degree, you have to submit a current transcript of records instead of a degree certificate. The current average grade indicated in the transcript of records will be taken into consideration for the application process.

If your application has been successful, you will be granted probationary admission: The completion of the Bachelor’s degree has to be proven by 31 December of the year for which admission has been granted. If the required proof cannot be submitted by then, the probationary admission will be revoked and the study place has to be given up. It is possible to apply again in the following year.
