Your application for the Master’s program in Food Chemistry

To apply for the Master’s program in Food Chemistry, simply check the admission requirements and then upload your documents online through the HohCampus application portal by the application deadline. The application portal opens in mid-April for applications for the winter semester and in mid-December for the summer semester.

To the 1st subject-related semester

  • Winter semester: 15 June
  • Summer semester: not possible

For a higher subject-related semester

  • Winter semester: 15 June
  • Summer semester: 15 January

How to apply

Apply online via the HohCampus application portal for the Master's degree program in Food Chemistry and upload the application documents in the application portal. There you can also check the status of your application at any time.

Admission requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a German or foreign university  with at least 180 ECTS or at least a 3-year standard period of study
    • in food chemistry or
    • in an equivalent related degree program with a chemical-analytical profile with an above-average final grade, proven by the grade “good” or better (e.g., Chemistry, Nutritional Science, Food Science and Biotechnology, Environmental Chemistry)
  • German C1

Application documents

  • Transcript of records and the certificate of the completed university studies with average grade 
    • If you do not yet have your final degree certificate, then we will use your current average grade.
    • The degree certificate must be submitted no later than 31 December of the year for which admission is requested.
    • If the documents are not available in German or English, we need an officially certified translation.
  • Subject-specific knowledge
    For this, please use the data collection sheet.
  • German C1
    • German university entrance qualification (HZB)
    • German Bachelor´s Degree
    • TestDaF (at least level TDN4 in all four test areas)
    • DSH (at least level DSH-2)
    • DSD (at least level II; German language diploma from the Kultusministerkonferenz)
    • Goethe Certificate C2: "Großes Deutsches Sprachdiplom" from the Goethe Institute
    • Deutsche Sprachprüfung II (Munich Language and Interpretation Institute (SDI))
  • If you were already enrolled in a Master’s degree program:
    • Proof of completed exams from another Master’s program
    • Proof that you have not lost the right to take examinations in the degree program to which you are seeking admission or in a related degree program.

Allocating places

To allocate the available places, a ranking list is created. In the Admission Regulations you can find detailed information on how points are assigned.
