Your application for the Master’s in Organic Agriculture and Food Systems

To apply for the Master’s program in Organic Agriculture and Food Systems, simply check the admission requirements and then apply online through the HohCampus application portal by the application deadline. The application portal opens for applications for the winter semester in mid-April and for the summer semester in mid-December. 

Application deadlines

To the 1st subject-related semester

  • Winter semester:
    • German, EU citizens: 1 June
    • Non-EU citizens: 15 March
  • Summer semester: not possible

For a higher subject-related semester

  • Winter semester:
    • German, EU citizens: 15 June
  • Summer semester: 15 January

How to apply

The degree program can be studied as a single degree or a European double degree program.

Apply online via the HohCampus application portal for the Master's degree program in Organic Agriculture and Food Systems and upload the application documents in the application portal. There you can also check the status of your application at any time.

If you decide to do the single degree, then you will complete your entire program at the University of Hohenheim. If you decide to do a double degree, then you will spend the first year at the University of Hohenheim and then switch to one of 5 European partner universities for the second year.

Admission requirements

  • An above-average Bachelor’s degree in agricultural sciences, nutritional sciences, horticulture, or a related program at a university in Germany or abroad or at a university of applied sciences with a standard period of study of at least 3 years or an equivalent degree (totaling 180 ECTS) (for other “related programs,” see Annex 2 of the Admission Regulations).
  • If their final grade or average grade for this degree is not above average, the applicant must also prove their particular aptitude for the degree program (can be proven with a letter of recommendation, completed vocational training or professional experience, extraordinary social volunteer work, or a letter of motivation).
  • Proven English language proficiency at TOEFL 90 (ibt), IELTS academic 6.5, or Duolingo 125 points. English proficiency may also be proven by the German university entrance qualification (HZB) if at least four semesters of English were taken in the higher level (Oberstufe) with an average grade of at least 8 points, excluding a separate Abitur examination.

  • Your university entrance qualification (e.g., Abitur, A-levels, high school diploma)
  • Bachelor’s certificate and transcript of records
  • Proof of English language proficiency
  • Result of the online pre-test
  • Optional: Proof of special aptitude for the degree program, documentation of an above-average degree, letter of motivation

Online pre-test

All applicants must evaluate their previous knowledge of the natural sciences in the Organic pre-test before applying. 

The result of the pre-test must be uploaded with the application.
