Degree and career prospects

The degree program in Biology qualifies students for a wide range of careers. There are different entry options depending on your personal focus. However, a Master’s degree is recommended especially for certain occupational fields such as those in research and development.

The degree program qualifies students to apply for/be admitted to the Master of Education in Biology degree program. The Master’s degree is followed by the preparatory service (Referendariat) for a career in teaching at upper secondary schools (Gymnasien). The preparatory service lasts 18 months and takes place at a state seminar for didactics and teacher training coupled with practical work at a training school.
