Your application for the Master’s program in Clinical Nutrition

To apply for the Master’s program in Clinical Nutrition, simply check the admission requirements and then upload your documents online through the HohCampus application portal by the application deadline. The application portal opens in mid-April for applications for the winter semester and in mid-December for the summer semester.

To the 1st subject-related semester

  • Winter semester: 15 June
  • Summer semester: not possible

For a higher subject-related semester

  • Winter semester: 15 June
  • Summer semester: 15 January

How to apply

Apply online via the HohCampus application portal for the Master’s degree program in Clinical Nutrition and upload the application documents in the application portal. There you can also check the status of your application at any time.

Admission requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a German or foreign university with at least 180 ECTS or at least a 3-year standard period of study

According to the admission statutes, § 4(1c), the following degree programs are recognized

  • Nutritional Science(s)
  • Nutritional Management and Dietetics, and
  • Clinical Nutrition

In addition, degree program such as

  • Nutritional and Food Science
  • Nutrition and Catering Management
  • Food, Nutrition, Hygiene
  • Ecotrophology
  • Biochemistry
  • Human Biology
  • Medical Biology and
  • Molecular Medicine

can also be recognized by the selection committee if the following minimum academic requirements are fulfilled:

  • Proof that achievements totaling at least 30 ECTS credits have been acquired in the basic science subjects of biology, chemistry, mathematics/statistics, and physics.
  • In addition, proof that achievements amounting to a total of at least 30 ECTS credits in total from nutritional science subjects (nutrition science, food science, nutrition physiology, human nutrition, clinical nutrition, nutrition epidemiology, nutrition psychology, quality management) as well as biological-medical basic subjects (anatomy, biochemistry, immunology, microbiology and physiology) have been acquired.
    Possibilities for making up missing credits: If ECTS credits are missing from the number of ECTS credits from basic natural science subjects or from the sum of basic biological medical subjects and nutritional science subjects, up to 12 missing ECTS points can be compensated for, provided that in the other area, in addition to the required 30 ECTS credits, there are twice as many ECTS credits earned as ECTS credits missing.
  • Bachelor’s degree with a inal grade of “good” (2.5) or better
  • German C1

Application documents

Transcript of records and the certificate of the completed university studies with average grade 

  • If you do not yet have your final degree certificate, then we will use your current average grade.
  • The degree certificate must be submitted no later than 15 December of the year for which admission is requested.
  • If the documents are not available in German or English, we need an officially certified translation.

German C1 - one or more of the following certificates:

  • German university entrance qualification (HZB)
  • German university degree
  • Test “Deutsch als Fremdsprache” (TestDaF), at least level TDN 4 in all parts of the test
  • Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang (DSH), at least level DSH-2
  • “Deutsches Sprachdiplom der Kultusministerkonferenz” level 2 (DSD II)
  • Goethe Certificate C2: Großes Deutsches Sprachdiplom (GDS)
  • German language exam II (Munich Language and Interpretation Institute (SDI))

If you have then, documentation of: 

  • Relevant vocational training and/or practical professional experience (at least 3 months)
  • Particular academic aptitude with the data sheet
  • Study abroad during a degree program 

If you were already enrolled in a Master’s degree program:

  • Proof that you have not lost the right to take examinations in the degree program to which you are seeking admission or in a related degree program.

Note: Because this is an online application on the application portal, please do not send documents by post!
