Bachelor of Science

Agricultural Sciences:
Horticultural Sciences major

How can we grow horticultural crops sustainably and use resources such as water and nutrients efficiently? Which innovative cultivation methods help to meet the challenges of climate change and increase productivity at the same time?

The Horticultural Sciences major deals with these and other exciting questions. Within the Bachelor’s degree program in Agricultural Sciences, you can specialize in horticultural sciences from the very first semester. Here you will deal with the various aspects of production horticulture. Plant protection, greenhouse technology, and sustainable cultivation systems are taught in a research-oriented way and you can specialize in modules such as vegetable and fruit cultivation or viticulture. If you wish, you can take part in horticultural research projects, e.g., on climate change or urban farming. Your major will be shown on your degree certificate. If you want to design diverse crop production for a healthy and sustainable diet, this degree program is just right for you.

Study and research abroad

Explore the world and study or research abroad for a semester! An experience like this is an opportunity to develop personally and professionally and broaden your horizons. A semester abroad is a great opportunity to improve your language and intercultural skills and to think outside the box. Horticultural sciences are no longer a national discipline, but are increasingly concerned with global and cross-border challenges. All the more reason why experts with foresight are in demand, not least in internationally operating companies. We have over 80 partner universities in Europe and all over the world.

A semester abroad also offers you advantages when looking for a job. This is because many international companies prefer applicants who have already studied and lived abroad.
