Diverse and interesting career possibilities

You have completed your Bachelor’s degree and would now like to finally enter professional life? In addition to your interest in certain topics and industries as well as your personal talents and strengths, your possible tasks in your career will depend on two things in particular: Your elective area (general education or business administration and economics) and practical experience in the context of school and company internships. 

Depending on whether you decide to go into business or pursue a state-certified teacher program, you will have different career prospects. The job prospects are good in both areas. In times of a shortage of skilled workers, experts in human resource management play a key role in recruiting, training, and retaining suitable staff members. Teachers are also in high demand, especially if they can teach one of the shortage subjects.

In the industrial and business sectors, for example, you will work in the following areas: 

  • Vocational training and continuing professional education
  • Personnel, education, and training management
  • Personnel and organizational development
  • Extracurricular adult education (public and private sponsorship)
  • Educational counselling and assistance with development
  • Analogous professional activities to the degree program Business Administration and Economics (depending on practical experience in companies and individual specialization during your studies) 

If you want to work as a teacher, you must first complete a Master’s degree in Education for Business and Economics and a traineeship. You have the following options for positions in the education sector: 

  • Teaching (höheres Lehramt) at vocational or commercial schools

Once you have completed your Bachelor’s degree in Education for Business and Economics, you will be qualified for Master’s degree programs throughout Germany, Europe, and the rest of the world.

Would you like to become a teacher?

If you have decided to become a teacher and are passionate about passing on your knowledge at schools with a focus on business, a Master’s degree in Education for Business and Economics and a subsequent traineeship is mandatory. At the University of Hohenheim, you can seamlessly add the corresponding degree programs to your Bachelor’s degree.
