Food Chemistry

How do we ensure that our food really delivers what it promises? How can harmful substances, fraud, or substances that are hazardous to health be recognized and avoided?

The Bachelor's degree program in Food Chemistry deals with these and other exciting questions about the safety and quality of food, cosmetics, and consumer goods. You will learn how analytical methods are used to detect harmful substances such as acrylamide or dioxins, for example, or to uncover food fraud. As an interdisciplinary subject at the interface of chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, toxicology, and food law, the degree program provides you with a broad foundation in natural sciences and practical knowledge. You will develop your skills in problem analysis and quality control through laboratory courses and modern analytical methods. If you want to help protect the health of consumers and make quality transparent, the Food Chemistry degree program is just right for you.
