The Information Systems Bachelor’s program deals with these and other exciting questions. Here you will learn how modern information and communication technologies are developed and used sensibly in companies, from process optimization to digital innovation. The interdisciplinary degree program combines content from information systems, computer science, and business administration and economics and prepares you optimally for a future-oriented professional field. You will develop computer-aided systems in which people and technology work closely together, referred to as socio-technical systems. If you want to actively shape the digital transformation and combine technical know-how with business thinking, the practical Information Systems degree program is just right for you.

Studies

In the Bachelor's degree program in Information Systems, you will learn and apply the most important fundamentals of information systems, computer science, business administration, and economics. The focus is on developing and applying information technology (IT) in business contexts. You will work on exciting and modern topics such as artificial intelligence, digitalization, data science, software and system design, programming, and Industry 4.0. You can customize up to 45% of your studies and choose courses according to your interests. Teaching in Hohenheim is focused on how to apply the knowledge, meaning that practical experience is not neglected.

Study abroad

Would you like to study and research abroad? Then take advantage of the opportunity to spend a semester in another country. During this time, you will not only broaden your horizons, but also develop and educate yourself. We have over 80 partner universities in Europe and all over the world. A semester abroad also offers you advantages when looking for a job. This is because many international companies prefer applicants who have already studied and lived abroad.

With a stay abroad you gain life experience, intercultural skills, and improve your career opportunities at home and abroad. There are many opportunities for you to do this as part of your Bachelor's degree: You can spend a semester abroad in Europe or overseas, do an internship abroad, or attend a summer school during the semester break.

Both the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences and the University’s Office of International Affairs are happy to advise you on all matters related to your stay abroad. Both offices can help you with organizing and carrying out stays abroad.

As a graduate of the Bachelor's degree programs in Information Systems, you will have the knowledge to work in companies that focus on digital technologies and solutions. Depending on your individual interests and focus during your studies, possible fields of work could include artificial intelligence, information and process management, data science, software development, or information and communication systems. The demand for qualified specialists is high, so you can start your career directly after completing your Bachelor's degree. Alternatively, you can gain further qualifications and complete a Master's degree.
